The Kayo eC2i has received EU WVTA certification.
From Lishui to Europe: the Kayo eC2i series has earned the "European Union-wide Validity Passport".
Both models have received certification simultaneously, marking the official entry of China's high-speed electric two-wheeled vehicles into the European premium off-road market.
Recently, Zhejiang Kayo Racing Co., Ltd. announced exciting news: two models from its eC2i series –the eC2i-TXE (Off-Road Road-Use Version) and the eC2i-SMS (Slip-Steer Road-Use Version) – have officially received the EU WVTA (Whole Vehicle Type Approval) certificate, with the certification category being L3e (Two-Wheel Motorcycles).
This means that both vehicle models have successfully passed the EU's mandatory market access tests, enabling them to be sold in all 27 EU member states as well as in other countries and regions that recognize the WVTA certification.

03|Why does a single certificate carry such significant weight?
WVTA (Whole Vehicle Type Approval), also known as the EU Whole Vehicle Type Approval, is a mandatory "passport" required for motor vehicles wishing to enter the EU market.
In accordance with EU Regulation (EU) No 168/2013, this process involves the systematic verification of dozens of technical specifications for vehicles – including emissions, braking performance, lighting, noise levels, electromagnetic compatibility, and production consistency –among other aspects. If any of these requirements are not met, the vehicle cannot be issued a certificate.
Its true value lies in four simple words: "One certification –valid across the entire EU." By obtaining type approval in just one EU member state, manufacturers can sell and register their products across all 27 EU member states as well as other regions that recognize this certification – such as the European Economic Area (EEA) – without the need for separate testing in each individual country.
For electric motorcycles, the WVTA certification also requires compliance with additional specialized requirements pertaining to battery safety, electrical systems, and functional safety; thus, the technical barrier is no lower than –or even higher than – that for traditional fuel-powered vehicles.
The simultaneous certification of the eC2i series 'dual vehicle models represents not only a significant milestone for Kayo Racing in expanding its presence in the European market, but also signifies that China's high-speed electric two-wheeled vehicles have officially secured their compliance credentials for entry into Europe's premium off-road and slippery-road segment.
